definition of temporary order:

the short-term court order for child custody, child support, or spousal support. A temporary order is meant as a interim solution, providing for the needs of interested parties. It has effect only for the duration of a court action and is voided by the final judgment.

The father was paying $747 a month in child support for twins born in a previous relationship. When a temporary order was issued requiring him to provide support for twins born from a subsequent relationship, he moved to modify the first child-support order.
